Share a plant in Community
Community is where growers show their plants to each other. Everything in Keep Growing is private until you decide otherwise, so sharing is always a choice you make plant by plant.
Share one of your plants
- Open the plant and press Edit.
- Find the Sharing section and switch on Share in Community. The explanation under the switch says what happens: other growers can see this plant, its soil mix and its schedule (read-only).
- Press Save plant.
A shared plant shows a Public chip on its photo. To stop sharing, switch the same setting off and save. The plant disappears from Community straight away.
What other people can see
Anyone who opens a shared plant sees its page in read-only form: the photos and the cover, the schedule (how often it is watered and fed), the soil mix, the pot and light, the care log with its photos, and the plant's notes. They also see your display name and avatar, which you set under Edit profile in Profile.
They cannot edit anything, log care, or see your other plants. Your email address is never shown.
Because the notes and the care log are part of the page, keep private details out of a plant you share. If a note is meant only for you, leave the plant private or edit the note first.
Plants that came into a shared household from a member are always private, so merging gardens never puts a name on Community by accident.
Explore what others share
Open Community in the tab bar. The Explore tab is a grid of shared plants. Each card has the photo, the plant's name and species, a line such as "Bright indirect, water every 7 days", who shares it ("by Noa", or "a fellow grower" when there is no name) and a Like button.
- Search looks for a species or a soil mix. The search runs over every shared plant, not just the ones already on screen.
- Species and Tag let you narrow the list to one kind of plant or one tag.
- Newest and Most liked change the order.
- The list loads 20 plants at a time. Press Show more for the next batch; at the end it says "That's everything".
Open a card to see the full page. Press the heart to like a plant; press it again to take the like back. You cannot like your own plants.
The Explore tab also holds a row that opens the blog, where the plant care guides are.
Visitors and guests
You do not need an account to look. A visitor sees the first few shared plants clearly, then a prompt to sign in for the rest. Liking, searching beyond the first batch and everything else that writes something asks you to sign in or create an account.
Groups are for friends
Community is public. To share with only a few people, such as family or a plant club, use a group instead: Groups and invite links.
